WINNER! Derby Day win for Sovereign Debt – 3rd June 2017

Another big day for the team at Epsom and Sovereign Debt came up with the goods again in the Group Three Diomed Stakes.

Given a great ride by Jimmy, who can’t have had many – if any rides round the idiosyncratic Epsom Downs, SovD upped his game again to win by a neck giving weight away all round with his G2 penalty.

“Run at a sound gallop early, it was a repeat result of the Bet365 Mile at Sandown, with Sovereign Debt just getting the better of Gabrial, this time under a penalty. The third didn’t get the best of runs, but wasn’t unlucky.  SOVEREIGN DEBT, saddled with a Group 2 penalty for his Sandown win, was ideally placed and kept finding having got to the front, always doing enough to hold his old rival. He’s an 8yo but better than ever. He’ll surely have to go into Group 1 company now, but would need supplementing for the Queen Anne.”

“I came here prepared to be beaten, but Sovereign Debt is a real trier and he wants it. He’s on a roll and keeps producing the goods. He’s exceeded all of my expectations. He’s not in the Sussex but the QEII might be an option.”
