Colours

Our colours are kindly provided to the Racing Club by Ruth. They have been her personal racing colours for many years and have been carried by some of her favourite horses including Monaadhil who won 3 races and was placed 4 times out of 11 runs in 2022.

Meet the Ruth Carr Racing Club Horses

We currently have four very exciting horses in the Club.
Van Zant, Hard Solution, Newyorkstateofmind and Darker.

Hard Solution

A big handsome sprinter, purchased privately at the end of 2022. He’d spent his whole racing career in the same yard so a change of scenery saw him rejuvenated!

In good form in summer 2023 to win and be third at Hamilton before aggravating an old injury twice.  Had some bad luck with the draw and no luck in running before bouncing back to form with a 3rd and then a win in March 2024.  (updated 23.03.24)

Newyorkstateofmind

A bay 6yo gelding by Brazen Beau and out of Albany Rose. Bought at Tattersalls in October 2022, he enjoyed a winter of complete relaxation.  Even thought the Racing Post wouldn’t agree I think Yorkie has run consistently all year!  A winner at Hamilton and placed on plenty of occasions in 2023.  He’s a had a good winter holiday and will be ready to run again at Easter 2024.  (updated 23.03.24)

Van Zant

A good looking lad who is full brother to a 3 time winner.
Van showed ability as a 2 year old when placed 2nd to subsequent 99 rated Lethal Levi. Disappointing at times last year but he has showed me enough to stop me writing him off!  He eventually came good at Wolverhampton to win on Boxing Day 2023 and has held his form well this all weather season with plenty of placed efforts another win at Southwell at the end of March! (updated 27.03.24)

Darker

He is a very big horse who will continue to mature physically (and mentally) and is full brother to a Group Three winner. I didn’t have new owners for him so have popped him in the Racing Club for the time being whilst one of the other Club horses was out of action and he is still in the Club!  We’ve tried Darker over different distances in 2023 and he ran well to be third over 1m at Chelmsford which looks to be his best trip.  Looked to need the run first time out in 2024 and hopefully he can repay my considerable faith in him soon!
