WINNER! Tory wins the Stable Staff race – 1st July 2016

Tory and Tanawar lined up for the Clock Tower Cup, a race for stable staff as part of Racing Welfare’s stable staff awareness week.  Tan was a perfect gent but Tory gave him a perfect ride.  She had him handy from the outset, got him into a lovely rhythm, they cruised into the lead and from 2f out there was only one winner!

Tory Doncaster 1st June 2016“I have been in racing since I left school at the age of 16, and trained at The British Racing School. After leaving college I worked in Malcom Jefferson’s yard where I gained excellent experience within the horse racing industry. From there I have had various different opportunities in different yards across the country.

Tory Doncaster 1st June 2016I joined Ruth’s team in 2010. However in 2013 I was lucky enough to go on a sabbatical in Australia where I worked at Bart Cummings’ yard. I then went onto gain experience working at a pre training yard for the remainder of my time there. However it was here that I broke my leg in 2 places. Without the help of Racing Welfare I would have found it difficult to get back riding again. This is why I wanted to participate in this race and show my appreciation for everything they did for me, also to help raise awareness of the charity so it can continue to help others that find themselves in the same situation as I did.”

Tory Todd, 2016

“I nominated Tory for the Clock Tower Cup because she is an important member of our team who is a very capable rider and a hard worker with a no nonsense approach. Having recently enjoyed the thrill of riding in a charity race myself I thought Tory would also love the buzz!”

Ruth Carr, 2016

Tory has raised £1240 for Racing Welfare and you can still show your appreciation for the grafters in racing by visiting Tory’s Just Giving page and donate if you can.  Every little helps!
