Tanawar followed up his win in the Redcar apprentice race with another success at Carlisle.  With no penalty to carry, unusually for Tan, he was soon pushing along at the rear of the field but came home strongly up the stiff Carlisle hill to win going way.

“A moderate handicap run at a sound pace.  TANAWAR, unpenalised for winning an apprentice handicap at Redcar seven days earlier, passed the field up the straight to win under a fine ride. Due to be raised 4lb in future handicaps, he was suited by sitting off the strong fractions and remains in decent heart.”
