WINNER! Miningrocks breaks his maiden tag – 24th July 2015

Miningrocks had shown glimmers of ability but his nerves often got the better of him.  It’s always very satisfying to win a race with a less talented horse but hopefully the penny has dropped with Miningrocks now and he can go onto bigger and better things!

Miningrocks Thirsk July 2015“The opener was just a modest selling handicap and it was run at a good pace from the off. MININGROCKS, back down a furlong in trip and dropped in class, came through from off the pace to get up close home, opening his account at the tenth attempt. He’s clearly suited by a strongly run race and has the option of moving back up in distance. The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner and they noted the trainer’s explanation that the gelding was better suited by the drop in grade to a seller and a drop back in trip to seven furlongs on this occasion.”

Miningrocks Thirsk July 2015Miningrocks ran well for a long way at Wetherby last time and Tom Eaves suggested we drop him in trip. It worked but it was a bad race. It was a selling handicap and the name says it all but a win is a win”
