massive Saturday double for the tean with Vinnie and Kylie winning at Goodood and Thirsk.

We were gutted when Vinnie got chinned on the line earlier in the week at Goodwood but had he won, he’d have had a penalty and likely wouldn’t have won the much bigger prize of the Stewards Cup consolation race!

“There was 4mm of water applied to the straight and bends after racing the previous day, and the weather was again dry and warm for this final card of the meeting. There were two groups early on in this Stewards’ Cup consolation race, the majority middle to stands’ side, but a bunch of five runners, more far side but still some way off the fence, produced the first two home. Mainly exposed runners. POYLE VINNIE had hit the front a furlong out when caught late for a close second over 5f here at the start of the meeting four days earlier. Up to 6f for the first time this year, with blinkers replaced by cheekpieces, he was delivered later this time and just did enough. He looked to have a favourable track position so, all considered, he’ll be no good thing to follow up.”

Kylie bounced back to form with an impressive last to first performance under Nathan Evans in the feature, Summer Cup, at Thirsk.

“With plenty in form, this valuable handicap proved a competitive renewal and the pace was fair for the conditions. The sole filly in the race came from last to first to gain a fifth win in eight starts this season. KYLIE RULES had been in tremendous form at Beverley, where she had rattled up a four-timer, the last of which came off a 7lb lower mark in May. She had excuses in her three previous runs in defeat (stuck in the mud at Haydock, a lack of early pace and trouble in running at Beverley the last twice), and having been slowly away here, things looked to be against her again. However, she had a decent pace to aim at and having travelled well, found this extra half furlong in her favour. She came widest of all to swoop inside the final 0.5f, showing a tremendous attitude. The only surprise was her price.”
