The Leger Legends at Doncaster – 9th September 2015

Tory leads Luke on Storm in the parade ringThe Leger Legends race is a mile classified race for retired jockeys at Doncasters big Classic Meeting.  It has to be said that some jockeys where more “legendary” than others and the talk of the day was AP McCoy coming out of retirement for one race only!  The race raises money for Jack Berry House in Malton a fantastic rehabilitation centre for jockeys and the Northern Racing College who train up and coming stable staff, jockeys and much, much more.  A fabulous auction raised over £50k and 497 people where entertained in a huge marquee in the middle of the track.

We entered Big Storm Coming and in the random draw got Luke Harvey as our jockey.  Luke may not be a twenty time champion jockey but his Friday evening Get In show on ATR races is certainly lengendary among racing fans!

The bookies and press gave us little chance and made us one of the outsiders at 20-1 but Luke gave Storm a great ride to finish 3rd with McCoy doing what he always did – win!
