WINNER! Pipers wins Grandad’s race at Ripon – 16th July 2018
A magical day for the family, especially Grandma and I, with Pipers Note winning the David Chapman Memorial race at Ripon. Piper had run a great race earlier in the season to finish second at Ripon to the inform mare Sandra’s Secret (who went on to win again and be listed placed) before not having things pan out for him a couple of times. Back to his beloved Ripon and given a chance by the handicapper Piper won decisively under Jack for his owners Cragg Wood Racing.
“A disappointing turnout for this 76-95 sprint handicap, but an emotional success for the winning trainer. PIPERS NOTE, 12lb lower than at this time last year, was keen enough early before settling better in tracking the three leaders. Pulled out wide coming to the last furlong, he found plenty to go and win his race and take his record at Ripon to 7-17.”

“Pipers Note is a lovely old horse who enjoys it here and likes fast ground. He’s not been in the same form this season and it’s all come right for him. He will definitely be coming back to have a crack at the Great St Wilfrid, in which he was second last year.”
