WINNER! Magical Effect wins at Redcar – 12th August 2017
Magic has run some solid races of late without success so deserved to get his head in front under Jimmy at Redcar.
“Relatively competitive for the grade and the pace was solid enough for the conditions. The winner came from off the pace. MAGICAL EFFECT, having been as big as 9-1 overnight, landed something of a gamble. He had been consistent in defeat since scoring on his seasonal bow here in April and down 1lb, down in class, and held up, he got a nice split approaching 1.5f out and quickened from off the pace to score a shade cosily. He should not go up too much for this and should continue to pay his way, with connections eyeing the Great St Wilfrid consolation race at Ripon next weekend.”

“Magical Effect has been running consistently all year but for some reason things just haven’t come together. We’ve always liked him, last year we thought he was a bit special. Maybe we have come up against a lot of sticky holding ground, whereas this is more fresh good to soft ground that he can go through. I’d like to think he’ll go on from this, he might go for the Great St Wilfrid consolation race at Ripon next Saturday.”
