WINNER! King Torus wins at Ripon – 3rd June 2014
KT followed up his Newcastle win with a success in the Wilmot-Smith Memorial handicap a race we have won three times in the last 5 years.
“The feature event on the card and a cracking finish with the winner wearing down the runner-up late on in a race run at a solid gallop. KING TORUS had sprung a 25-1 surprise when making a winning reappearance last month, but he was only 2lb higherand he picked up the front-running Bold Prediction under a well-judged ride. A high-class juvenile in his time, he’s operating at a lower level now but he’s clearly thriving – this his third win since joining Ruth Carr last summer. His back class offers hope that he will remain competitive when reassessed, but the handicapper is unlikely to be as lenient a second time. QUOTES: Ruth Carr, trainer of King Torus: He’s in good form. He could go to Doncaster on Saturday and in the back of our minds is the 7f handicap at Royal Ascot.”
