WINNER! King Torus makes it three – 17th July 2014
KT joined Victoire De Lyphar, San Cassiano and Ellaal at the top of our horses leaderboard with his third win of 2014.
“The pace was solid for this useful Classified event although a loose horse caused an anxious moment or two. Nevertheless, nothing should be taken away from KING TORUS who completed a hat-trick in style. A dual Group 2 winner as a juvenile, the 6yowas returning from a 44-day break after bouncing back to form to land two handicaps on his first two outings this season. Off a 4lb higher mark, he came widest of all and had the race in his command from the 1f pole, with the loose horse, Johnny Cavagin, who reared up in the stalls and left his rider standing in them, guiding him home. This was his fourth win since joining Ruth Carr last summer and while the handicapper will have his say, it would be folly to rule out a four-timer while in this mood. QUOTES Ruth Carr, trainer of King Torus: He’s in the big handicaps at Ascot [International Stakes] and Goodwood [Betfred Mile] and there are plenty of other options.”
