A deserved success for Athmad who has been running consistantly well this winter without winning.  Slightly slowly away, Paul Mulrennen was happy to bide his time and let Athmad go about his business up the straight to lead close home.

“This looked to be run at a sound pace and the winner came fast and late from the rear. Both the winner and second came down the outside.

ATHMAD 3lb higher than when beating Precision Storm over C&D in January last year, came with a strong sustained run down the outside to enhance his already excellent record at the track. Running creditably without success this winter, he’d slipped 2lb below his last winning mark and was returning to this venue for the first time this year. He’s 5-10 here now and they faster they go, the better.”
