Slemy is our tenth WINNER of 2016 – 17th May 2016
Slemy returned from injury to finish second at Redcar three weeks previously and went one better when winning at Wetherby. An outside draw was a concern but Jimmy gave him a lovely ride and winning by a length.
“Not a single 2016 winner in a less than ultra-competitive 61-80 handicap. They went a good pace, which suited the first and the fourth but there was plenty of trouble on the inside rail. SLEMY had run a good race on his return from an eight-month break and settled better with the strong pace, making his ground inside the final quarter of a mile, switched to the outer and leading in the closing stages. He is lightly raced for a five-year-old and could well still have further improvement in him.”
