York McMillan Charity Day – 17th June 2017

Macmillan Charity day is a special day at York with memories of a fantastic day for myself and others on our team. In 2012 vet, Edmund Collins, dusted off his racing boots, raised a load of money and rode in the race. The same rainy day Klynch won the 6f race on soft ground for the yard.
Five years on, the weather was very different, the ground fast and Meshardal won the same 6f race – his third on the trot this season under another confident ride from Jimmy who had already ridden the big winner of the day for Tim Easterby.
My big day was last year, and this year it was another of our vets getting fit and raising money for the very worthwhile charity that is Macmillan Cancer Support. Catriona rode Tanawar in the mile and one race. Tan generally runs over 7f so thought he should go a bit faster than Catriona wanted him to but they set a good even gallop and he stuck to his task well to finish third beaten only 2 lengths.
Thanks to everyone who has supported Catriona with sponsorship and of course to Tanawar’s owners who kindly allowed us to run him in the race!
