Fanny is a nice looking thoroughbred who needs a change from racing as he is no longer enjoying it. Fanny needs a confident and competent rider as he can sometimes nap. 3 years old. Bay Gelding 15.1hh approx. We broke Thomas last year and he was straight forward and easy to do. Unfortunately he isn't very fast and although we took him to the racecourse for an exercise gallop he wasn't fast enough to actually race. He is good to do in every way. He naturally carries himself in a shape and would excell in any equestrian discapline with the right training. He is used to being turned out with other horses, he is used to dogs, and electric fencing. At our yard we don't ride on the road much but he is quiet with all farm type traffic, tractors and trailers, around the yard. He has a full Weatherbys passport, is microchipped and vaccinated and wormed up to date. He is a very good eater and not fussy or picky. He is good to catch and is good to load, groom, clip, will tie up in the wash box to have his feet and tail washed. He does not kick, bite, boxwalk, crib bite or wind suck. He has been turned out since Autumn and today (19th February 2010) we caught him, took him away from his mates, loaded him, brought him back to the yard, tied him up in the wash box, pulled his mane, brushed him, washed his socks, took a photo, put the tack on him, gave him a 2 minute lunge and got on. He was absolutely no problem at all. We trotted him around the lunge pit which is very deep then in the paddock and down the field to pop some little poles for the first time. Go to the "Where are they now" page of this website to view photos and news of horses previously sold from this yard including a multiple winner of In Hand Ex Racehorses classes. £1750

Natural Rhythm, better known as Norman, is looking for a good home after retiring completely sound from racing. 5 years old, 16.1hh approx, chestnut gelding. Norman would go straight into a job as a hack, or hunter or wouldn't need much work before he would do a low level showjumping class. He has had no schooling and has worn the draw reins for 10 minutes where he soon started to drop into a shape. The photos show his first time jumping the logs where he was soon leading his "lead" horse! He seems very quick to learn and is still young enough to go on and have a long career in another equestrian discipline. He is eligible for the "Retraining of Racehorses" classes which are very popular. He has run on the flat winning 4 races and being placed 9 times. He has also run 4 times over hurdles. He has seen flags, banners, heard loudspeakers etc at the races. 6 years old. Not very big (possibly small enough for pony racing?) but pictures don't do her justice. Sire won 20 races from 6f to 1 mile and dam won 7 races over 5f, 6f and 7f. She is a nice looking filly. Broken professionally as a two year old and turned away ever since through no fault of her own. Always carries a lot of condition without needing much grub. Her full sister was useless and we've just never got around to doing anything with her. Wasted stood in field and should be doing a job by now. We can catch her and trim feet etc in the field no problem and she's loaded and travelled ok the couple of times we've moved her to different field etc. I spoke to the lady that broke her as I couldn't remember what she was like and she said she wasn't bad, put her back up a bit but once she got into her she was ok. She did have a little canter round the gallop but never got any further than hack cantering. Go to the "Where are they now" page of this website to view photos and news of horses previously sold from this yard including a multiple winner of In Hand Ex Racehorses classes. £750 Price straight from field. 3rd November 2009

5 year old mare about 16.1hh. She last raced August 2008 and had a colt foal this year. She did win a race as a two year old and was placed a few times. She is about 16hh. She is a good ride and jumped well when she was in training. We were tempted to try her over hurdles but she was a sprinter so wouldn't have stayed 2 miles. Unfortunately I have no photos of her when she was in training and the foals have chewed her tail off. Would make a riding horse or brood mare as she had no problems at all being covered or foaling etc. Sensible mare. As with the other that have raced is used to loading, travelling and seen the racecourse plenty so wouldn't be bothered by flags, banners, load speakers etc. £1000 Price straight from field. 3rd November 2009
7 years old and we bred her ourselves so we have a soft spot for her. About 16.1hh. She won three races for us and we trained the sire and the dam. She is a good sort of mare and also had a foal this year. She last raced June 2008 and jumps well and had a couple of runs over hurdles. Would make a riding horse or brood mare as she had no problems at all being covered or foaling etc. Sensible with kids, dogs etc. Her tail is also gone. As with the other that have raced is used to loading, travelling and seen the racecourse plenty so wouldn't be bothered by flags, banners, load speakers etc. She crib bites but doesn't do with a collar on. £900 Price straight from field. 3rd November 2009

2 year old filly. About 15.2hh (can measure if necessary) Last raced Tueday 27th October. Unfortunately very slow but sensible enough and will have seen lots of traffic as previously trained by Sir Mark Prescot in Newmarket so will have ridden through the town to get to the gallops every day. Used to dogs, electric fencing etc. Has raced plenty so is used to loading, travelling and seen the racecourse so wouldn't be spooked by flags, banners, loadspeakers etc. She has only run in flat races but shows a willing jump loose. She is eligible for the "Retraining of Racehorses" classes which are becoming increasingly popular. She has a correct confirmation, no injuries or unsightly scars and is sound in everyway. She has good, strong feet. She has a full Weatherbys passport, is microchipped and vaccinated and wormed up to date. He is good to catch, with farrier and is good to load, travel, groom, clip etc. We have only ever ridden her in a snaffle and has always been sensible to ride. She has not kicked, bitten reared, bucked, weaved, boxwalked, crib bite or wind sucked since we have had her. She is to sell straight from her racing yard and should be double the price but we don't have time to school her on and need a quick sale to make room for new horses coming in. Go to www.ruthcarrracing.co.uk/forsale for more horses to sell from £750. 3 year old, lovely big horse, full up 16.2hh. No reason he won't be a racehorse as totally untried but is bred to go jumping and we are a flat race yard. Eyecatching enough to make a show horse. We have done very little with him through no fault of his own - just feed and turn him out. He's good to muck out and good with the farrier etc. He's been sensible to load and travel the only time we moved him to a different pasture. We took the photos of him this morning (11th November) in the the pit which has an electric fence "runway" around the outside. He sensibly trotted around the outside for his photos taken and even popped a small pole. As you can see he has a lovely, long, extravagant stride. Video clips can be emailed. £3000 Price straight from field. 3rd November 2009

3yo filly. Last ran 6th April this year and been running with a stallion in the paddock over the summer but didn't get in foal so had plenty of time to get racing out of her system. About 16.1hh We haven't done very little with her as been turned out all the time we've had her but had the tack on twice this week and she seems very sensible and willing. Popped a cross pole and is really genuine. She ran 20 times as a 2 and 3 year old winning 4, 2nd once and 3rd 5 times. As with the other that have raced will be used to loading, travelling and seen the racecourse plenty so wouldn't be bothered by flags, banners, load speakers etc. Photo doesn't really do her justice. Video clips can be emailed. £1250 3rd November 2009

Watermill, better known as Walter, is looking for a good home after not making the grade as a race horse. 6 years old, 16.2hh approx, dark bay gelding. Walter would go straight into a job as a hack or wouldn't need much work before he would do a low level dressage test or show class. He has a long floaty stride, drops nicely into a shape when asked and is eligible for the "Retraining of Racehorses" classes which are very popular. He is exceptionally quiet ride for a thoroughbred, he doesn't buck, rear, nap or bolt. Not riding him for a few months then getting on him again is never a problem and he will quite happily canter around a big open stubble field without wanting to gallop off (no wonder he didn't make a racehorse!). He will go out in company or alone and had no problems leading the young horses on the gallop and letting them hang into and bump him. He hasn't been used to lead a kids pony from before but I imagine he would do that job nicely. Walter raced 9 times in total on the flat. Unfortunately he wasn't fast enough but because he was such a good ride we decided to keep him to lead the yearlings with, hunt and run in point to points. He ran in 7 point to points earlier this year and last raced in May where he finished with a hind leg injury. He has been given loads of time to recover and is now being ridden again and is totally sound. He is used to being turned out with other horses, he is used to dogs, and electric fencing. At our yard we don't ride on the road much but he is quiet with all farm type traffic, tractors and trailers, around the yard and was good with the traffic when hunted with the York and Ainsty (South). He has a full Weatherbys passport, is microchipped and vaccinated and wormed up to date. He is a very good eater and not fussy or picky. He is good to catch and is good to load, travel, groom, clip etc. He has seen flags, banners, heard loudspeakers etc at the races and travelled up and down the country. He is a snaffle mouth and does not kick, bite, crib bite or wind suck. He will box walk when out of his routine - e.g if he was stabled next to a friend and the friend got turned out and he had to stay in he would box walk. The vet advised at the time of the hind leg injury that jumping very big fences and very fast work may put it under pressure again. Go to the "Where are they now" page of this website to view photos and news of horses previously sold from this yard including a multiple winner of In Hand Ex Racehorses classes. No dealers, time wasters, complete novices (he is sensible but still a thoroughbred after all!), text messages or joy riders please. 10 miles north of York. £1250 (30th August 2009) Call Ruth 01347 811719 or 07721 926772

Mont Cervin, better known as Monty, is looking for a good home after not making the grade as a race horse. 4 years old, 16.3hh approx very dark bay (nearly black) gelding. Monty didn't run as 2 year old, won one race as a three year old and has raced 13 times in total. He last raced on the 6th June. We have ridden him a couple of times in draw reins and he was very quick to learn. He dropped into a shape naturally and now goes nicely without draw reins. He wouldn't need much work before he would do a low grade dressage test or show class. He has only run in flat races but shows a big scopy jump loose over 3'6 and has jumped small combinations ridden. He is an extravagant mover and is eligible for the "Retraining of Racehorses" classes which are becoming increasingly popular. He has a correct confirmation, no injuries or unsightly scars and is sound in everyway. He has good, strong feet. He is used to being turned out with other horses, he is used to dogs, and electric fencing. At our yard we don't ride on the road but he has also seen all farm type traffic, tractors and trailers etc and never bothered and was previously trained in Newmarket and Middleham where he will have been ridden on the roads to the gallops. He has a full Weatherbys passport, is microchipped and vaccinated and wormed up to date. He is a very good eater and not fussy or picky. He is good to catch, with farrier and is good to load, travel, groom, clip etc. He will stand tied up outside to be shod, groomed, clipped, hosed etc. He has seen flags, banners, heard loudspeakers etc at the races and travelled up and down the country. He is a snaffle mouth and a good sensible ride. He does not kick, bite, rear, buck, weave, boxwalk, crib bite or wind suck. He is to sell straight from his racing yard and should be double the price but we don't have time to school him on.. Go to the "Where are they now" page of this website to view photos and news of horses previously sold from this yard including a multiple winner of In Hand Ex Racehorses classes. He is an extravagant mover and is eligible for the "Retraining of Racehorses" classes which are becoming increasingly popular. He has had no serious work since racing and has had plenty of time to get the racing out of his system. He has been ridden a couple of times in drawn reins and is starting to show a shape. He is a strong type of thoroughbred with plenty of bone. He has a correct confirmation and no unsightly scars. He is used to being turned out with other horses, he is used to dogs, sheep and electric fencing. He is good in traffic and will hack sensibly alone or in company. He has a full Weatherbys passport, is microchipped and vaccinated and wormed up to date. He is a very good eater and is unlike a thoroughbred in that he carries a lot of condition. Photos show his condition when turned out full time on grass! He is to sell straight from his owner/trainers (Ruths Dad) yard. Watertight, stable name Edward, is looking for a good home after after not making the grade as a racehorse. 4 years old, 16.2hh approx bright bay gelding. Edward has never raced due to his very laid back personality and lack of speed! He is a big, strong type of thoroughbred with plenty of bone. He has clean straight legs with no unslightly blemishes - if you were very picky his only conformation fault is being slighty cow hocked. He has good strong feet. He is used to being turned out with other horses but will go out on his own equally as well, he is used to dogs and electric fencing. At our yard we don't ride on the road but he has also seen all farm type traffic, tractors and trailers etc and never bothered. He does not kick, bite, rear, buck, crib bite, weave or box walk. He has a full Weatherbys passport, is microchipped and vaccinated and wormed up to date. He is a very good eater and always carries loads of condition. We bought him as an unbroken yearling in October 2005 and he was sent away to be professionally broken by an former advanced level event rider/trainer as we did not have the time to do him ourselves. He was good to break and always very laid back. Edward was then turned away to mature because he was very big and backward. He has since been back in training and turned away again when he still didn't show any speed. He was last in training last back end and was again turned away. He was brought in from the field 21st July and has been ridden in a snaffle and draw reins since and is showing a nice outline. He has never been jumped but is now trotting over poles. He is no bother to do in or out of the stable and is good to catch, with farrier and was good to load and travel the one time he went away from the yard. This big gentle fellow will do any job with the right schooling and is eligiable for the "Retraining of Racehorses" classes even though he is unraced as he has been in training at a licensed raceyard. He is to sell straight from his racing yard and should be double the price but we don't have the time to school him on. No dealers, time wasters, complete novices, text messages or joy riders please. 10 miles north of York. £2950 ovno

Newsround is looking for a good home after after retiring from racing. 6 year old, 16.2hh approx bright chestnut gelding. Newsround last raced in August 2007 and is retired due to a knee injury. He is now completely sound having been given plenty of time to recover and is now looking for a home as a riding horse. He is a good, strong type of thoroughbred and was bought by Sheikh Mohammed as a 2yo for 220,00gns! He has clean straight legs with no unslightly blemishes. He is used to being turned out with other geldings, used to dogs and electric fencing. At our yard we don't generally ride on the road but he has been ridden down a quiet lane on his own and didn't bat an eyelid when an articullated lorry went past. He has also seen all farm type traffic, tractors and trailers etc and never bothered. He does not kick, bite, rear, buck, crib bite, weave or box walk. He has a full Weatherbys passport, is microchipped and vaccinated and wormed up to date. He is a good eater and holds his condition well. He has only run on the flat and never been jumped. He would enjoy hacking out and being made a fuss of. He is good to catch, load, travel, shoe, clip, groom etc. No dealers, time wasters, complete novices, text messages or joy riders please. 10 miles north of York. £1250 ovno

Crytpic Clue is looking for a good home after not making the grade as a racehorse. 4 year old, 16hh approx dark bay gelding. He is a forward going, athletic sort with flowing paces and clean straight limbs. He is used to being turned out with other geldings. He has a full Weatherbys passport, is microchipped and vaccinated and wormed up to date. He is a good eater and holds his condition well. Crytpic has done no grid work or serious schooling but shows enthusiasm in everything that we've asked of him and pops a little combination nicely. With the right training he would make a lovely teenagers eventer or riding club type. He is good to catch, load, travel, shoe, clip, groom etc. He has seen flags, banners, heard loudspeakers etc at the races so although he needs some time spent reschooliong he is not as green as grass. POTENTIAL SHOWJUMPING STAR. Jabraan is looking for a good home after not making the grade as a racehorse. 6 year old, 16hh approx dark bay gelding. He is a forward going, athletic sort with flowing paces and clean straight limbs. He is used to being turned out with other geldings. At our yard we don't ride on the road but he has seen all farm type traffic, tractors and trailers etc and never been a problem. He was previously trained in Newmartket where I'm sure he''''ll have been out on the roads. He has a full Weatherbys passport, is microchipped and vaccinated and wormed up to date. He is a good eater and holds his condition well. Jabraan loves to jump. We are flat yard but gave him a run over hurdles because he is such a good jumper – unfortunately he just isn't cut out to be a racehorse. He has done no grid work or serious schooling but shows a huge jump (our poles don't go high enough to test him seriously) and with the right training would surely make a top grade showjumper. He has seen flags, banners, heard loudspeakers etc at the races so although he needs some time spent reschooliong he is not as green as grass. He is to sell straight from his racing yard and should be double the price but we don't have the time to school him on. No time wasters, complete novices, text messages or joy riders please. 10 miles north of York. £2750 ovno

He doesn't have many miles on the clock having being broken and in work as 3 year old and then turned away to mature.
